It was a difficult math year for us. Teaching Textbooks teaches Algebra in a way that is different from the way I learned it, and the way many other curriculums present it. This made it difficult for me to come alongside and help him with his work when he struggled. The Math 6 (3.0) works a little differently than the 2.0. The academic content is the same as always and includes over 100 hours of multimedia instruction! However, each course is now delivered online as a 12-month subscription (per student). This obviously means no more discs (and, importantly, no more need for expensive disc replacements). These placement tests are good for both our 3.0 and 2.0, since the academic content of those versions is the same. The Math 3 (3.0) works a little differently than the 2.0.

Each Teaching Textbook provides approximately 700 pages of text and 120 – 160 hours of teacher instruction on CD-ROMs, which is like a teacher and a textbook combined into one. The Teaching Textbooks series is a college prep curriculum even though it is not as rigorous as some other courses. However, textbooks for the elementary grades move at a slower pace than other series such as Horizons Math and Saxon Math. Of course, you can always move ahead more quickly with a child who excels.
